two different senarios... had one that would turn to left and back to center easily but not turn to right at all... was a clogged harden grease in right hand spindle.. used a 8 foot cheater pipe on a pipe wrench on the spindle to break the harden clog loose with copious amounts of wd40 and grease.
it would do this running or not running..
had one doing this also, but when jacked up, could turn left or right with engine off but not when running.... and it was a collapsed bearing in the steering box that caused the steering shaft to drop down and only let one steering port line up but would go high enough to let the other port line up....
And I am sure there are other problems that could do this as well.
