I saw the post about the rabbits and it reminded me of the time my chickens took a ride to work with me.
A few years ago I had 4 chickens that I let free range. 3 of them were leghorns and 1 was a Rhode Island red. The white chickens never let the red chicken hang with them, for real. One February morning at about 5:30 am and 20 degrees I got in my mack dump truck pulling the equipment trailer with the backhoe on it to drive to the job which was a hour and 15 minutes drive. I left the shop, drove around the beltway (55mph), and up interstate 95 (60mph) . About a mile or so from the job site I stopped at a 7/11 to get my coffee and bun. It was light out by then. I come walking out of 7/11 and see 3 white chickens clucking around the parking lot. I thought holy smackrel andy my chickens must have been roosting on the trailer. I left them there of course. I knew that I would never be able to catch them. When I got home that evening sure enough the white chickens were gone. From then on everyday by the time that I would back into my parking spot at the shop the red chicken would be running across the yard and meet me at the truck. It was like that chicken thought that I got rid of the white chickens just for her.
