LED lights are not new by any means. I have been using them on my truck for 20 years. They last forever and only use about 20% of the power that regular incandescent bulbs use. They do not produce any heat. The drawback with that is, they get covered over by snow in the winter whereas incandescent bulbs keep the snow melted off because of the heat produced. Like many others, I have been replacing light bulbs in my house with the LED's as the old ones burn out. In this application you need to read the packaging and get the bulb that replaces the size bulb you have been using.
