Go with geothermal. We had a closed loop system put in seven years ago and love it. It also makes most of the domestic hot water. We're on the budget plan for electricity to even out the bills and pay $140/month for electric and $20/month for gas for a 1200 sq. ft. 3 bedroom ranch. Much more efficient than an air heat pump. Much easier to get heat out of 50 degree water than 10 degree air.
