I didn't catch how many acres you're talking, but even if you need to do several samples, it's still cheap insurance. finding out it's junk now will save you a lot.
If the results are middle of the road - you still have an answer of what to do, and you'll know exactly what it's going to cost to do it, so you can make an educated decision.
If the soil's fine - well then you wasted your money, but you're going to have good results anyways and the cost of the samples will be insignificant.
