Our mail carrier had a Model A sedan. He took the fenders off and put on really big flotation tires (much bigger than the ones in the pic). He could drive over top of the snow drifts with that rig. It wasn't speedy, but it would deliver the mail a couple hours late.
We were at the far end of the county so it took them a week to get out and plow the county roads, but the township roads went unplowed all winter. When I was little, I used to watch for the Model A running the township roads at 10-15 mph, just floating over the top of the drifts.
