Your brake story reminds me of the time my wife helped me when I pulled my son's Kubota from a soft spot. I thought my 630 was pulling hard and looked back to see that she had her foot on the reverse pedal. I didn't say a word because I knew I'd need her help again someday. Kinda funny tho that she can work a hand clutch JD, but had trouble with a modern hydro.
