I first saw side dump boxes in sugar beet country around Sterling Co. For some reason those side dumps were used for sugar beets. I was hauling wheat waiting to dump at a pit at an elevator south of Sterling. A single axle straight truck was sitting on the pit and the guy at the pit opened doors on the SIDE of the box. I took notice to that since I'd never seen any truck that dumps out the side. Then the passenger side of the box started coming up and that REALLY got my attention.
