That's deer season here. So I think back to all my years in the deer stand. I've seen everything from below zero to high 70s so you were warm in the stand and kept nodding off to sleep. Tsk, tsk. And you were worried about the deer your buddy shot yesterday spoiling. Have seen years when we got snow in October that didn't melt till April. Have seen years we didn't get snow till Christmas and the woods was dry and quiet so you could hear deer walking 70 yards away. Often we don't have snow for the opener (11/6 this year) but usually do by the 3rd weekend. Ground is often frozen an inch or two but some farmers still doing late tillage. The lakes will be booming as they freeze over and shift and crack. It will almost always drop to freezing at night even if warms up nice in the day.
