I can't speak of the 1080 specifically, but we've got a 285 that dad plowed with for years. He hated plowing and would choose to rent a large MFWD tractor with a chisel over using the plow unless he had to.
Not that the tractor couldn't do it, but being that the draft senses from the top link and the plow was a semi-mounted, there was no draft on it. Some ground was better than others, but in tough ground, it was miserable.
Now we've got an Oliver 1855 as the heavy hitter, and plowing with that is a breeze. Some tractors are better for certain jobs than others.
