Well, whoever said that the info you get from the internet is worth exactly what you pay for it is wrong. Maybe elsewhere but not here on YT. Problem was a low oil level and the oil level safety ground switch ...... I had previously drained off what I thought was excess oil (forgot to mention that in my original post) but the cart with the gen set on it had a flat tire and was sloped away from the safety switch ...... and was obviously reading a low oil level and it grounded the ignition system.
