Be careful of companies selling systems that they claim they will notify the cops and someone will be there within 5 minutes or so. We had a company up here selling those. Heck we have one of the largest counties in our state and at 2 AM there are 2 Sheriffs deputies on duty, one east one west, nearest town with cops on duty at that time is 25 miles away and the State Patrol has one guy on covering 3 counties. 5 Minutes? More like within 5 hours! A snowbird friend bought that system. He knows because of utilities and LP usage that someone occupied his place that winter long enough to burn through 400 gallons of LP. Security company did notify the cops. Cops drove by the place but no tracks going through the snow up the drive and the house cannot be seen from the road. Snow was too deep for the cops to drive in.
Whoever was there didn't drain out the water system when they left after the fuel ran out. Cost my friend some new pipes and a water heater and no one was ever arrested. Really great alarm system!
