Pretty much what I was going to say. The Tracfones sold in my area are all set for "G", I had to go online and order a "C" style. Works great.
Also, have you tried setting the phone to "roaming" rather than "home network"? That lets me use other towers.
I've never had any problems with Tracfones service whatsoever, but I use it as a phone, not a computer or gaming device. I spend less than $100.00 a year, often half that, for my service on a $14.00 phone.
