Most tractors are PTO rated in HP since it's easy to hook a dynamometer to the PTO and check the load. New implements have a recommended tractor hp requirement range. For old stuff, it's seat of the pants guessing or asking someone that's been there. That guessing is what keeps used tractor/implement/equipment dealers in business....customers rolling equipment because it won't work for them. Now how do you suppose I know that? Give you a hint. Got my "farmin" education at Hard Knocks U. Have one local guy I buy from him for $1500, sell out to him for $700, change my mind later on and buy back at $1500 again and usually get the poor quality the first 1500 I bought before I fixing the problem and usually adding new tires and all that. This time I'm not selling anything. Just going to park it and let the weeds grow up around it. Well, I'll probably keep it trimmed and controlled but keep it none the less.
