Bullet proof but the DI 5.3 is better. It wasn't that long ago that diesels did not make 300HP but everybody thought that was lots of power.
Depends on driving . On trips at 65mph it will do 15-17mpg. Knocking around in the winter time a few miles at a time . About 13mpg.
Considering the cost of just injectors for a Duramax. I'm happy with the gasser. It will tow 10,000lbs anywhere and keep up with traffic . We did program the transmission shift points as the factory settings hunted in a most annoying way.
