6 volt system doesn't work as good with the smaller 12 volt cables -but you can use 2 of the 12 volt cable and get starter to work fairly well. Some shops make replacement 6 volt cable to measure using welding cable and heavy copper terminals crimped and soldered- what parts store I worked at did for early VWs and old classics being restored. That sees to be what your supplier did- cut to length from a roll of welding cable and hopefully he end terminal were soldered/brazed on with a shrink sleeve slipped over ends and up cable first to be used as end covers after terminal solid connect. Price you mentioned- was that just straight measure and cut or did it include terminal works? RN
