I was going to suggest the calcium from tires too. I have a regular program here spraying poison ivy, bittersweet, and multi flora rose. I use any old brush killer product. The worst stuff is the bittersweet. It is spreading very quickly here in NH. it will pull down overhead utility wires, and the way it grows so dennsly it will kill huge trees with the combination of its weight and blocking sunlight. A few years ago I noticed multi flora rose high in a tree. it was about thirty feet up. I was able to hook it with the back of my tractor bucket and pull it off and put it on my burn pile.
