I no longer will donate anything to a food bank. First, as some have said, to many people get free food who do not need it are only working the system. Second, I believe the old saying of give someone a fish and they will eat today but teach someone to fish and they will eat everyday. Growing a food garden does not take a big garden plot and can be done almost everywhere even in planter pots. It does take, however, some effort.
WE are not doing those who expect that the rest of use will take care of them any favors but we just are perpetuating the situation. If they come and help you work in your garden then share with them, otherwise sell your surplus or feed it to the pigs.
