Dan, The Marvel-Schebler carburetors use a strainer attached to the fitting where the gas line attaches to the carburetor. It is often over looked when diagnosing a fuel delivery problem. Turn off the gas, remove the gas line at the carburetor, and turn on the gas to check for good flow from the gas line. It should be a steady stream. Unscrew the fitting from the carburetor and inspect the screen. Blow out the screen with compressed air. Confirm fuel flow by reconnecting the fitting and fuel line. Remove plug from bottom of carburetor and allow fuel to drain from carb. Turn on fuel valve and allow fuel to run into carburetor. Flow should be steady flow by a much greater rate than can be use by the engine. Replace plug in bottom of carburetor and start engine. Check for the problem again. As Jeff responded, closing the choke will help keep it running, but you can't use it that way.
: I resently purchased a Jubilee. It starts fine but after a short period of time when using the tractor the engine loses power and begins to cough and sputter. The only way to keep it running is to pull out the choke.
