He would not control what sellers asked for their equipment. As for the listings of actual selling prices he documents all that. Good equipment will still bring a good price. The antique equipment market is much more regional than actual working equipment. An example would be how Bryce post about how he can find this or that tractor in his area, Idaho, for lets say $500. Guys post from other parts of the country that that same model would bring $1500-2000. Well it could easily take $1000 to ship that tractor to where the higher market would be so there is not much incentive to do that. Now lets say the same situation but with a $100,000 tractor and there is market where it can bring $110,000. Then you could afford to ship it to the better marketing area.
Also you have to remember that the advertised price on many pieces of equipment are just guys fishing. The actual selling price would be considerable less. Everyone has their own idea of what works best for them in selling. I like to post a fair price without tons of dickering room. Other fellows like to way over price and then haggle down to a selling price. I just do not have the time. So I pretty much advertise where I want to be and let the chips fall.
