Malware exists for OS X and Linux, but it is much rarer than Windows malware. But it's more likely for a Linux or OSX user to encounter malware that targets a browser plugin, such as Flash. Plugin vulnerabilities exist across all platforms, although the effects may differ from one operating system to another. If you use Flash, it's important to always run the latest version, as it's a very popular attack vector for malware.
