My JD round baler handbooks say to use the Sheet Bend Knot. Being a Sea Explorer Scout, BSA alumni, I learned my knots. My pet was the Bowline for a quick non slip knot and for fun the Mast head, but for tying two pieces of plastic twine together and have it hold, the sheet bend, defined as tying a line through the loop of another, is THE knot. If you pull it down nice and tight after you tie it, it WILL NOT SLIP! Granny and Square knots, forget it. Can't trust them. Google the knot if interested. Quick and easy once you learn it. I have others I use frequently, but not for hay tying.
