We lived directly across the road from the park where the public display was held on our 'Canada-Is-Better-Than-Anywhere-Else-Day'. Right in front of us, between the park and our place, was an abandoned parking lot from a pub that had burned down ( :( ) that everyone used for parking. The first year we were there, when the fireworks started going off so did all the car alarms - and if the fireworks didn't set the neighborhood dogs off the alarms did. (And at the end of the park was the local dog pound!) That was a fun night.
