I learned the hard way (several times!!!) dealing with horse people. Now my rule is "cash in hand only." No holding hay unless paid for in full. No deals based on future promises. Funny thing, my son married a Swedish girl, so several years ago we made a trip to Sweden. While there we visited a farm family there. While we were there they had a deal going with some local "horse people." Farmer told me they experience the same thing--now strictly "cash in hand!"
