: I'm working on a research project using a large : dataset of tractors (various makes and models) and : their technical specifications. Does anyone know : when cabs were first introduced? It seems that : cabs were really popularized around 1968 when : a lot of test work was done on cab safety in : Sweden. Or were they commonly available before : then? The Case model L offered a wooden cab that had windows as a option they started building the L in 1929 and quite in 1938. The older steam engines and gas tractors had canopies and some had more of what i would call a cab but it had no windows, I believe these were used for nothing more than a sun breaker and shelter from the rain. At any rate I dont think cab safety was a big issue in the early days of farming. Good luck. Charlie English Jr.
