Not all of the 6.5's get better fuel milage as I once owned a 2000 6.5,auto,4WD,4.10 gears model that would only get 13 mph no load on it's very best day. But I pulled a lot more weight with it than that load of hay. The '83 model 6.2,4WD,granny 4 sp,4.10 would get 16.5 empty
