All you had to do was sit and watch the interstate by my house as load after load of hay passed by going west to Texas. Ranchers were selling cows as fast as they could haul them off and giving dairy bottle bulls away if they could find someone to take them.
Fast forward to today. It has started raining in Texas so ranchers are keeping calves for replacements.
So while the demand for beef is still there the supply is not. In all other major crops (corn beans pigs chickens) the supply could rebound in a year but not with cows.
