Hard to comment about it without knowing the story behind it. You did not mention him selling farm equipment so I wonder if he even had that contract. As somebody else said it is hard to deal with the average homeowner but if that is your proven lifeblood (residential products) then you have to wonder about the decision. Deere and Case like the chain dealer approach for industrial so I would be surprised if your dealer got that contract versus Deere approaching an existing Deere industrial dealer in another part of your state. I have to wonder how long your dealer will be a Deere dealer. There are Deere residential stores around here in small population areas so it is possible to make it. They just don't have the prestige that the ag and industrial dealer have in terms of sales dollars.
