There are many churches around Britain which no longer have a local village nor parishoners who attend services. Bayvil in North Pembrokeshire is one, the village disappeared many years ago. It now stands forlorn in the middle of no-where.
There is a national group in Britain called "The Friends of Friend-less Churches". They have published a book featuring these churches, and the Friends visit these churches. A few local volunteers look after them, trim the churchyards and make sure they survive.
Bayvil has not been modernised for 100's years, still has the original pulpit, box pews and even the bere to carry the coffins. And the medieval stone font.
