: Does anyone have any ideals on how to get a stuck tail pipe out of a muffler. I've tried everything I know to do. It's been on so long it's as if it has been welded. Many thanks in advance. I've soaked them at times with some success, but most times I ended up with heating and cooling then knocking and twisting it out. The trick is to try to get the outside piece bigger which heating does, while keeping the inside piece cooler, which is harder to do. However, if you heat and cool, then heat again and work with it, it will give up eventually. Of course, you can always cut the outer pipe down to the inner and "peel" it away that way. It's a mess when they're like you say but like most folks, they can be separated. Have a good day. John
