As Randy said, make sure the grinder is running when you pour in the minerals. I would suggest grinding a portion of the grain into the mixer, then put in your minerals and other suppliments and then fill the grinder up. I think I still have a new auger for a 354. Don't know if it fits the 353, but if you do need an auger check the NH part #'s to see if they are the same. You can also remove the auger and weld new flites on the thing. It's a miserable job to remove the danged thing but we have done it and rebuilt augers. Don't know as I have ever seen a cover on a dust collector. Not for a NH anyway.
One other suggestion. Never, ever dump ingredients into the hopper without the screen down. If you get an old feed bag wound up in that auger you will 'bout go crazy trying get that thing unwound! Grinder/mixers were NOT designed to be mechanic friendly!!!!!
