Well I will commend your wife as being brave and then say your friend sure took a chance taking a fired up team in a parade.
Five years ago there was a team them ran off during a July fourth parade in Bellevue, IA. One lady died and around 30 people where injured. There have been several lawsuits filed against the owner of the team, even though his wife was the lady that died.
Horses around groups of strange people are just an accident waiting to happen. My Grand Daughters have wanted to take their horses in some parades. I have been 100% against that. It is too dangerous for them and anyone else in the parade. I asked my son if he was ready to lose all he has if something happens.
I think many of the local parades have rules now that any horse in a parade has to have a handler on the ground with a lead rope/strap on the horse. Some have just banned horses from the parades as the parade sponsors have insurance trouble with horses in the parade.
