I run that exact setup on a 2290 Case, 2294 Case and 1660 Case IH combine. Ran it on my M2 Gleaner before replacing it last year.
There is some compensation for freeplay but I wouldn't count on overcoming a really loose front end.
Mounts for the steering motor will be a bit of a issue but I was able to take the bracket that was for the 2294 and make it work in the 2290 and M2. Just takes a bit of ingenuity, the ability to see the brackets before you buy would be extremely helpful also.
