I found a 12v compressor in my dumpster. Tenant threw it away. I removed the end that plugged in to the cigarette lighter, put an extension cord on it so I can agitator it to the battery. Works good enough for me if I have to air up a lawn mower tire and I'm away from the shop. Only needed it a few times. I have a portable 120v compressor I could put in the back of the truck if I knew I would need to air something up too. It has a good size tank.
Depending on where the nail is, leaving it could damage the tire more. I had the side wall of my front tire extensively damaged. Ended up replacing the tire.
