I went to tech school graduating nearly 33 years ago, great thing & certainly has been good for me. My son is now a sixth grade teacher and my daughter is just finishing her third year of RN nursing school, They'll both be fine. BUT what I think is terrible is how the High Schools fail to promote post secondary education of ALL KINDS. I get the feeling from multiple high schools and the guidance counselors that if you don't go to 4 year college you won't amount to nothing. A lot of kids for multiple reasons can't go to four year college but that maybe they can go to a community college or vo-tech school. Learn a craft and land a decent job, own a home and dream the american dream. BUT the spin I get from HS counselors is if your not going to go to a UNIVERSITY we aren't going to waste any time on getting you any post high school education. COUNTLESS kids go go to the big UNIVERSITY for several semesters and then fizzle out and end up leaving school. Hmm maybe they'd been better off attending tech school for 1 1/2 years and then at least they'd had SOMETHING. I just feel like there are a lot of kids that are underserved,by a school system that is only interested in your future if you are going to the big 4 year school. News stories say this country is flooded with educated people that don't know which way to turn a screwdriver and getting to be sorely lacking for tradesmen/craftsmen. There, I'm done with my rant,,,,for now. Jim
