No single Amish family farms 200 acres most are less than 100.With produce many are 40 or less. They do not pay any insurance but do help each other with large medical bills. They spend very little on extras and live cheaper than any of the rest of us. Many of those farms are financed for two or three generations(especialy the high priced ones in PA) so the payments are not huge but a little more than rent and they have control of the land. I would rather have Amish neighbors than the BTO farmers who bulldoze the building and farm everything fence row to fence row with no thoughts for the land other than profit. Tom
