Beings you've mastered the art of posting pictures on this site, perhaps you could at least show us where it was mounted. I also thought about it being a voltage regulator. And I say this because WAY back when I went to auto mechanics school, we had an IH bus that came in with an IH-built alternator. IIRC, they were as scarce as hens teeth and only made for a few years. While it would have been so easy to slap on a Delco alternator as a replacement, our instructors made us rebuilt the IH alternator and put it back on. Anyway, this photo almost looks like the IH regulator that was on it.
