Identical model is the key. There can be a huge difference in tractor prices just on tires alone plus several other options. You would have to compare equipment unless it is just a plain Jane lawn mower or something in that order. I recall two times, the same person, several years apart. First time came into boss's office and offered x amount of dollars on a trade for new tractor. Boss told me about this much later. Anyway, boss looks at his figures for a while and looking kind of reluctantly, says, ok, deal. He would have offered to sell for less as he knew his invoice. Few years later, boss's son now boss. Same guy comes in, this time gets a price on 806 diesel. Goes 12 miles to neighboring dealer and get tractor for less. Problem was, the 806 we had was with a three point hitch and the one he bought was reg drawbar. He paid more each time for actual equipment. We also had a customer price a tractor, this was a 3688, and then went to another dealer and told that dealer the incorrect price quote from us. That didn't set to well with us or the other dealer when all was said and done.
