Ultradog MN- A few weeks ago I posed a question about using 16' hog panels to make a 'trellis'. Then plant half-runner green beans along the bottom to see if I got more produce instead of just planting the beans in a row. Plus, I hate being stooped over all the time picking beans!
So, I figured I would see which produced more beans....a straight 30' foot row of beans on the ground or a equivalent 30' rows of beans on a 'trellis'.
You mentioned that you would like to see how that turned out.
Since then, I may need my extra hog panels but, I found the next best thing. I have a 10x10 by 6' high dog kennel that I raised 6 Giant White turkeys in a couple of years ago.
I'm sure the litter has composted enough to make for some fertile ground.
My plan now, to plant a row of half-runner beans around the perimeter of the kennel to equal 30 feet.
Maybe it might be the same amount of beans harvested but a whole lot easier picking....

He said that he had some corn that he still needed to pick with an antique one-row New Idea corn picker. Scott has a nice farm about an hour north of Lansing in St. Johns, MI. He wanted to get the rest of his corn in by the next day (Christmas Eve). We had about an inch of new snow on the ground and single digit temperatures. So in the bac
