Hard to believe now, but when I was a kid, we picked them to sell for big money. $1 a gallon, and the biggest ones were always down underneath where the snakes were. We spent all our time down on the creek bottoms picking dewberries to sell for money. I don't know how we survived, but that dollar was a lot of money back then. Now I wouldn't pick a gallon for anything except a cobbler. They make some of the best jelly that there ever was, and the wine ain't bad either.
