Ya,they tend to like cool and damp to get a good yield. I use them mostly as a cover crop to establish alfalfa. I combine them and feed them to the cattle and bale the straw.
There's a little bit of corn in here. The guy that I get my fertilizer and chemicals from works some sandier ground than I do. He has a fair whack in,but he'd plant corn with frost in the ground if he could. I haven't seen much other ground even worked though. I don't care to plant much before Mothers Day. The ground doesn't warm up all that well before that around here.
