Sorry, Jeff. That does not always work. I was at a flea market, and I saw an engine that I wanted. The guy was asking a bit more than I wanted to pay, so I took walk around for a while and came back. When I returned, there was another guy trying to talk his price down while holding the engine. I could plainly see that if I wanted it, I would have to pay the asking price so I just took out the money, handed it to him, and told him that I was taking it for the asking price. I took it right out of the other guy's hands and walked off with it. Left them both with bewildered looks on their faces!
Another time, another vendor had a chain saw that he was selling for a friend (he said). A guy was there holding the saw, and arguing with him about it over a couple of dollars. Since he was only asking $30 for a decent saw, I handed him the $30 and took the saw right out of the other guy's hand. Sometimes it does not pay to be too cheap.
