On my toro with that stupid engine break, I took it off and threw it in the garbage can, I tack welded on a kill switch on the gas tank support, you can see the switch in the second pic. Then I turned the recoil sideways instead of having the rope to start it go all the way up to the handle bar, they make these mowers for the common idiot to use. Mine will stay running if you let go of the drive handle. If yours is the same don't bother with the brake cable.
