The rider figures that you'd hear the loud exhaust in all directions, even in a car with a way to loud sound system, making other drivers more attentive to what around them. That's the only reasoning I can thing of. I ride a motorcycle when ever I feel comfortable enough with the weather(forcast) to ride safely(no ice/snow or heavy rain more or less). I am always looking for people who don't seem to see me, just being sure I can stop sooner then them.
