Mine doesn't even need fenders- its a tube with braces running 2 directions, that you bolt to transmission cover bolts. Round umbrellas work well for me, but we don't have much wind. I like them because you can swing them out of the way if you want to stand awhile. The buggy type would be better where its windy. I've been having skin cancers burned, scraped and cut off for years. Had a hole the size of a 50c piece cut out of the area between my lip and my nose, and have had my right ear trimmed and re-sectioned, as well as countless assaults with the liquid nitrogen bottle. Sadly, wearing a hat later in life doesn't seem to help- I've never been without a straw hat in the sun since I was about 20, but it was the teen years without a hat that caused the damage. The first dermatologist I went to confirmed that I had grown up on a farm- he said I had all the signs of "fair-haired farm boy syndrome".
