Sea Rim state park is what Nancy wanted to say I think. A lot depends on what you plan to do. In general, the sand near Louisiana is brown, plus they can get some freezes in the winter. As you go down the coast, the sand gets closer to white, and the number of frosty spells usually lessens. Used to be the greatest numbers of "winter Texans" were down by Harlingen/South Padre where winters are so mild they grow citrus down there. Back in the days of cheap gas, folks would drag their trailers back up north in spring. Nowadays, I know many that just buy or lease a spot and leave their rig down there. It would be fun to explore the whole coast to follow the warm weather south until you hit something with the features and/or folks you liked.
