Ford 8N Carb problem

I picked up a side distributor Ford 8N today and
immediately started bush hogging my overgrown
property. As I was on the way back to the barn
the tractor died as if it were out of gas --
it wasn't. The sediment bowl was full of something
that looked like pond scum. I cleaned it out and
checked that I had good fuel flow to the carb. Before I take the carb apart to look for what
I believe must be a blockage, does anyone have any
words of advice? Thanks in advance.
