Just got off phone with the uncle this morning. He and my cousin shut down the evaporators at 2:30am. The first days boiling neted 31.25 gal of syrup. The sap tested at 1.5% sugar content. quick calculations show that we were boiling 84 gal of sap to make a gal of syrup. Boiling conditions were perfect, with clear skies after the front moved thru, and the uncle said the cast doors on the evaporators were glowing red all night long. We were abit disapointed with yesterdays results. We were thinking we would make 40-50 gal on the first run. Temps arn't supposed to get above freezing today and tomarrow, so the cousin and uncle will be able to catch up on their sleep. HeHe. Loren
