Sounds to me like you're talking about "conservation", an old, tried and true idea that I agree with. I'm not for buying something new just for the thrill of having something new, but I also am not so arrogant as to think my ideas of what someone else should have should cancel out their desires. The question is how to create a long term, sustainable paradigm that works for at least 75% of the people AND doesn't make things worse in other ways.
