Here in Branch County we have had to turn some roads heavily used by the Amish back to gravel. The carbide shoes and heavily loaded steel wheeled wagons tore up the pavement so badly that maintenance cost was prohibitive, so back to gravel. Of course they pay no license fees, very little gas tax, etc. that fund road maintenance.
